Finding the Perfect Swimsuit for Summer

It may not seem like it, but summer is coming. The sun’s beams, warm and sometimes uncomfortable, will make and appearance this summer, so you need to be ready.  That means finding the perfect swim suit for your body.  Every woman’s body is different so naturally, some clothing options work and others end up looking horrendous.  Here are six options, each unique and trendy for the summer for you to pick and choose from.  Throughout the summer, a little more skin is revealed than in the average winter weather, so we want you to be comfortable in your own skin.  Here’s some way to do it:
1. The Triangle

The first on the list is the very reliable triangle swimsuit.  It’s the most basic look that is both suitable as a trendy just walking on sand or wading in the water look or for the more “sporty” type that indulges in wake boarding and surfing.  Think Kate Bosworth in Blue Crush.

2. Strapless

A strapless bikini, is the epitome of feminine as bikinis come.  With cute florals, ruffles or a jeweled connection, this style of swim suit is classic, sweet and perfect for lounging.

3. Push Up

Push Up swim suits are the fun, flirtatious and sexy.  They give you an air of sexy confidence.  With either a halter or spaghetti strapped styling, this type of swim suit knows how to accentuate your body in a cool confident way.  They’re even quite cute and feminine with a cute tie in the middle.

4. Retro

Retro and vintage swimsuits became trendy recently, but there’s something about a mix of a high waisted conservative floral bottom and cute corset-ish top that makes this look addicting.  Think how great Taylor Swift looks donning her vintage swim wear with her cute pony tail and a pair or round lens sunglasses.  It’s a new design that show a woman who is not afraid to change with the tides of fashion, but yet owns her own sense of self in no matter what she wears.

5.  Tankini

Think back to the days of the effortlessly beautiful Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model.  Think Cyndi Crawford smiling proudly on the cover.  The tankini is one of the most basic designs: a top hanging off at the waist and a cute ruffled bottom.  It’s the swimsuit where you don’t have to worry about what your body looks like, about bloating and such, and you can still look and feel beautiful.  Add a cute sun hat and shades and you can channel any fashion time period in this timeless piece.

6. The One-Piece or Monikini

The first time I saw a monokini was in the CW show Nikita where Maggie Q plays a seductive rogue agent.  Her job, naturally, was to seduce men and her red hot number certainly did the job.  The monokini is essentially a one piece swim suit, but it has been re-vamped, and really re-vamped.  Straps still hang from the shoulders and the swimsuit covers your body, but in the midrift area, cutouts are made.  Now cutouts are on top of the current trend listings with shirts and dresses, so why not put them into swimsuits?  The monokini is possesses power and attention with its intense design.  It hones in on sexy and carries it all the way through.

Each swim suit, from the traditional bikini to the daring monokini are unique, beautiful and stylish for any water outing.  So choose which look is your key look and which will you be trying out.

A Fall Introduction

Hello there fellow Redemption readers,

As the leaves change color, turning into a deep auburn or a rusted orange, and refreshing summer lemonade is replaced by endless cups of coffee to get your days going and running, we have decided to make a few changes with redemption as well.

New stock will be in representing the best of fall times, Redemption has started a new company Boho Pretty , check it out any time, and of course there is me.

My name is Camille Sarabia and I will be the new blogger for Redemption. Feel free to think of me as your guide through road of fashion, new exciting and daring trends, accessorizing, details and anything fashion forward. As a bonus, I will add in a little beauty tips, DIY’s and How To’s. So keep an eye out for your favorites.

First before we get started, I would like for you to know a little about me.

I am currently a college student, studying Magazine Journalism at Indiana University, trying to make my place in this world. That means rigorous classes, extensive homework and waking up and 7 a.m., which I’m sure many of you know plenty about.

However, writing and fashion is my creative outlet to escape. I am currently sitting outside on a wooden table under a red umbrella. It’s 9:13 a.m and I’m all set with my green tea and cute little iPad to do what I love best: write and write about fashion. Honestly, I’d rather not be anywhere else.

Here are a few facts about me:

1. I am not an athlete and have come to terms with that about myself.
2. I am 5′ tall and wear size 5 shoes.
3. I love anything vintage, bohemian, classy and original.
4. I have slight obsession with leather boots. I currently own 5 pairs.
5. I fell in love with fashion, clothing, designs and everything apart of it when I was fifteen, but I have since learned that is not the brands, the trends, or how you wear it that makes the look; it is you. It is your air of confidence, it is feeling good and beautiful in your own skin and it is taking charge to be that woman that you want to be.

Please let me know if you have any ideas that you would like for me to touch on. I welcome anything and everything. I can’t wait to start exploring the world of fashion and beauty will all of you.

Much Love,

& Camille Sarabia

It’s That Time: Fall Fashion!

Hi there Redemption Readers!

We hope your Labor Day was filled with lots of fun! Anyone have any exciting stories??? We would love to hear all about it.

Well, as you were enjoying your three-day weekend, barbecuing and soaking up the remainder of summer’s sun we have entered into September. You know what that means: Fall Fashion!

We have compiled a list of five key items you must have for the fall of 2013. Complete with loose and light fabrics, these items are a blend of summer and winter, bringing you a warm yet breezy introduction to the best fall ever.

1. Long Sweaters

Long sweaters are worn for two reasons: for warmth and to add something extra to your look. If your leaving your house around 7 or 8 a.m. it still may be a little chilly outside, but not nearly cold enough for a jacket or thick sweater. Long sweaters fulfill brief fall chill, but they also do something else that is infinitely more important, they add dimension to your look. I always look for a little something extra to add to my outfit. If I’m wearing a dress or a cute pair of shorts, I may add a sheer shirt that buttons down and wear it as a fall jacket or use a light flannel and then take these off later on in the day. They exist to amuse the eyes, to add stature and lengthen your look and are every bit of cuteness. Wear them simple or use a cute belt to tie it. Long Sweaters spark up the outfit and deliver a cuter your for the day.

Tip: Pair it with gladiator sandals or a pair of cute ankle boots

2. Printed Pants:

Printed pants are the talk of 2013. Worn high-waisted, hanging just above your ankles or as loose billowy pants, these printed pants are fun, high-fashion and a form of daring that can never be taken the wrong way. But you must be careful not to go too crazy with them. “With great power comes great responsibility” and these pants definitely command power. Be sure to reign in everything else. Keep your top, jewelry, make up and shoe color choice simple as your pants, and believe me that’s enough, will be the talk of town. Keep your top slimming. Present a balance. For instance, if your pants are slimming or skinny, a billowy or slim top will do, but if you are wearing bottoms with more volume, lower the effects of the top.

Tip: Pair cigarette styled printed pants with stilettos or flats, they cuff above your ankles. Bohemian styled printed pants are a little easier to work with, more casual. They can be paired with a cute toffee or black wedges or a cute sandals.

3. Leather Jackets

Let me just say that I am a huge fans of leather jackets, but here in Indiana, there is a small window to wear them. In the winter we are covered up with so many layers that we loose count and in the summer, well no one wants to be wearing anything with the word “jacket” in it. Fall is the perfect time to unleash the “leather.” Whether you are going for the rocker look or trendy look, leather will do you justice. Because leather jackets are so fierce on their own, I love pairing them with something simple and sweet. Try a summer dress, a maxi skirt with a belt or even your cute printed floral pants.

Tip: The color of your leather jacket means a great deal. Black is more rocker and fierce, red and blue are statement colors, so they should only be worn with softer and neutral colors and toffee leather jackets are great blenders that work well when wanting to bring the “sweet yet edgy” appeal.

4. Ankle Booties

The great thing about ankle booties is that they are universal in footwear. They don’t draw too much attention that say, “what is this girl thinking wearing heels to the supermarket?”, but they also give you enough attention that boosts your outfit. They are not fully high boots, helping you avoid too hot, but they clearly achieve looking chic, fresh and like a person who knows exactly what she’s doing. With so many different styles, it’s hard to choose from. They vary in leather or suede and change from black to brown to tan to toffee, green or whatever color you can think of. I would most likely go with a 1 to 2″ heel that is not too showy, in order to be worn with a pair of cuffed jeans, but one that also does its job by saying, “yes I can pull off heels!”

Tip: Ankle booties are essentially just a little bit of material with a heel that reaches up to your ankle. Because they can generally be chunky, be sure to keep your torso slim. That means pair them with skinny jeans or a pair of tight and keep something fun on top.

5. Fall Scarves

Scarves must be one of my favorite accessories, right up there with belts. Let this be known that these are not the wool scarves you wear in winter time. They are usually made of sheer fabric or thin cotton, but the cool thing about these scarves is how you wear them. I especially have fun with this part. You can wrap them around neck, I like tying them in a bow, or twist them into something creative. Try to use printed scarf, full of color and pattern, that can take a simple 6 rated look and turn it into a stunning 10!

Tip: Watch this video to learn how to style your scarf:

*Most of these items were found by browsing through Pinterest. However, the long floral scarf featured is currently for sale at

Remember: Fall Fashion is what you make of it. Whether it’s flirty, fun, edgy or romantic, make it every bit of you!

Here’s to a better day & a better you!!

Restaurant of the Week: Petite Chou

Petite Chou is a breakfast, lunch and dinner kind of place. With homemade cocktails, burgers, and crêpes, Petite Chou is a destination that has food for every appetite.

Patachou Inc. was founded in 1989 by Martha Hoover. The company has many restaurants around Indianapolis, including Petite Chou, Cafés Patachou, Napolese Artisanal Pizzeria and Wine Bar, and a few others.

“It’s right across the street, and it always smells so good! I can’t wait to go there soon! I have been reading the menus online recently, and I know choosing what I want will be so hard,” said Abby Pearson, Marketing Manager for Redemption.

“Their food is just really good. I had the chicken salad, and loved it. I’d definitely say that it’s a family place, but also great for friends to go have drinks together too,” said Stacey Heffernan, store manager of Redemption.

Preppy Guide to Life blogger Madison Hanulak said she tends to eat there a lot! She said, “When Indy Monthly did a story on me, the photo shoot was there. I am also having one of my bridal showers there June 22nd!”

Hanulak’s favorite dish is the tuna tartine with a side of greens, and says it’s one of her favorite restaurants. Pictured below having coffee and a cocktail, Hanulak loves eating brunch at Petite Chou.

So come visit Broad Ripple for breakfast, brunch, coffee, cocktails, or a nice bistro dinner at Petite Chou! It is Redemption approved, and smells wonderful from across the street! Follow them on Twitter and Facebook for updates, and visit their website for online menus and locations!

While your there, stop by and see us! We’ll be the big brown house across the street with pretty dresses displayed outside!
